Saturday, August 2nd. Villa Gallici Deciani. A young Ukrainian couple living in Norway was getting married in a few hours, but there was a problem: the bride’s dress hadn’t arrived.
The dress had been commissioned in Ukraine, but due to a shipping mix-up, the package was stuck in a courier warehouse that was closed for the weekend. The bride had no dress, and guests were already arriving.
From London where he was on holiday, Luigi, the villa owner, received an urgent call. He immediately started making phone calls to find a solution. The warehouse was closed, the manager was on vacation, and the alarm system was on. The parent company in Bologna required authorizations that seemed impossible to get on a Saturday.
After multiple failed attempts, Luigi tried something unusual: he called the Mayor of the town where the warehouse was located. He explained the situation – a young couple’s wedding day was at risk.
The mayor of Reana listened and understood the urgency. He contacted one of the transport company employees. Even though the employee was out of his normal area, he coordinated with the central management of his company to get the warehouse opened, disable the alarm, and search through thousands of packages.
Meanwhile, at the villa, everyone waited. The photographer prepared his equipment, the bride and groom tried to stay calm.
Finally, the courier van pulled up to the villa with the dress.
The wedding went ahead as planned. Thanks to the combined efforts of a villa owner calling from London, a helpful mayor, and a dedicated employee who went beyond his duties, what seemed impossible had been achieved.
The bride got her dress, the couple got their wedding, and everyone involved got a story they’d remember forever.
